Obituary of Arnie Durau

Arno (Arnie) Durau was born on Saturday, January 10, 1953 in Seelow, Germany to Leo and Ursula Durau. He was one of four children. Arnie moved to Canada with his parents and brother Manfred on December 10, 1954, settling in Vancouver. His sisters Monica and Barbara were born in Canada. The family stayed in Vancouver for a few years before moving up north and settling in the Prince George area. Arnie helped out in the family owned gas station while attending school. He spent his working career in the logging industry where he operated various types of equipment or drove logging truck. Arnie will be lovingly remembered by his wife; Shirley of 25 years, Mother; Ursula, Brother; Manfred (Elaine), Sister's; Monica (David) & Barbara, Shirley's Mother and Father; Charles and Barb, Brothers-in-law; Gordon (Grace) & Bruce, Sister-in-law; Ruth (Danny), Niece; Treena Durau (Ian), Nephew's; Leo Durau, Nolan (Vicki) Embree, Children Cameron & Rees, Nathan Embree (Kayla) & Andrew Shupak, and numerous family members in Germany. Arnie will also be remembered by the many friends he has made along his journey. He is predeceased by his Father, Leo. Arnie passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 in Edmonton Alberta. A Social Gathering was held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Chetwynd, B.C. Interment will be held at a later date.
