Obituary of Henry Kisch

Adolf Henry Kisch, or "Hank" as we all knew him, was born in Talbot, Alberta on March 12, 1930 to parents, George and Martha Kisch. He spent most of his early years around Talbot and Coronation taking jobs as a teenager helping neighbours with putting in or harvesting the crop and tending to livestock. Like many of the young fellows today, Hank was drawn to the oil patch and worked for several years on the rigs in both Alberta and BC. In 1952, he moved to Dawson Creek where he met Mary Emily Bellrose. She became his wife on December 17, 1954. They had seven children Darlene, Delores, Roxy, Beverly, Darrell, Shannon, and Darwyn. When Tina joined the family a few years later, the girls outnumbered the boys by two. Darrell, Hank's oldest son writes, "My dad was the role model for my life. One of my earliest memories of him was his volunteering at the Nawican Friendship Centre, together with my mother, helping with all those activities for the kids and bingo. He would take me with him on weekend plumbing jobs to teach me the trade. Later, when we both worked for a period of time on the Alaska Highway, he managed two roles. He was my dad and my boss". In Dawson Creek, Hank went to work for Fred Johns moving, officially, houses and sheds, but in reality he hauled just about anything that needed to be moved. Later, he went to work for Zwick's Plumbing and Heating and apprenticed to become a Plumber and Pipefitter. He worked as a tradesman for several years on the Bennett Dam at Hudson's Hope. When that project was finished, he started his own plumbing and heating business-"Chilton Plumbing". There he remained until he retired in 1980. Unfortunately, Hank's health started to deteriorate. He hurt his back and had to go to Vancouver for surgery. Later he developed cataracts in both eyes and had to have implants put in. In 1988, Hank had a massive heart attack. Difficult as it was for him, he had to learn to take life a little easier. In 1996, he moved to Fort St John to take up residence with his granddaughter, Tina, her husband Paul, and their son, Jesse. There he remained until passing away peacefully in the Fort St John Hospital on the morning of November 4, 2011. Hank, you will be missed and rest in peace. Memories Presented By Wayne Cheesman. Henry Kisch, a long time resident of Dawson Creek, B.C. passed away on Friday, November 4, 2011 in Fort St. John, at the age of 81 years. A Funeral Service was held on Thursday, November 10, 2011at 1:00 pm from Reynars Funeral Chapel. Pauline Haycock officiated, Interment followed in the Dawson Creek City Cemetery. V1G 2C6 Henry is survived by his Daughters; Darlene Bellerose, Delores Nolan, Roxy Patterson, Beverly Kapchinsky, Sons; Darrell, Shannon, Darwyn, Granddaughter; Tina Benson, Numerous Grand and Great Grandchildren. Henry was predeceased by his Loving Wife of 30 years; Mary, Parents; George and Martha Kisch, Four Brothers and Four Sisters. Very Respectfully Reynars Funeral Home
