Obituary of Dale Wesley Anderson

Dale Wesley Anderson was born in Edmonton, Alberta on June 18, 1954 to his parents Stanley and Gladys Anderson. Just before giving birth, Gladys travelled from Quesnel, BC to Edmonton by train with Sheila who was less than a year old, in her arms. When they arrived in Edmonton, they stayed with Grandma Elsie Hines. Since Grandma had some skills as a midwife, they stayed with her for about a month after Dale was born before returning to Quesnel. Back home Dale grew quickly and so did his appetite for adventure. Dale was a very active young boy. Dale's father passed away on the job when Dale was 4 years old, not long after Keith was born. So mom decided to move back to Edmonton and live with Grandma in the Bonnie Doon area. There,Dale attended the local schools including Rutherford Elementary, Strathearn Junior High and Victoria Composite High School. These were important years for Dale - growing up and spending time with family, cousins, friends and classmates. Dale loved to be outside and was active in sports. He enjoyed running, biking and track & field. He participated in a number of marathons as a teenager. Dale always wanted to run in the Boston Marathon. Sadly Dale's running stopped when his ankles were injured by a bus that collided with him one day while he was riding his bike home from high school. Dale learned some valuable lessons as a young person. One of the things that stuck with him was the desire to earn his own money. He became a young business man by delivering newspapers, flyers, shoveling snow in the winter and cutting grass in the summer. He even worked at the local hardware store for a while. In 1978 Dale and Sandy married and they moved to their home in Sandy Beach, AB. Together they had 2 sons - Stan and Daryl, and a daughter Cheryl. Dale started a career at the Northern Alberta Dairy Pool serving customers fresh dairy products throughout the greater Edmonton Region. In the 90's Dale moved to BC where he continued his trucking career. There he met Shannon. They soon moved in together and had a full house of children (3 of his and 2 of hers). Dale & Shannon married in 2001 in Progress, BC. Dale was a very social creature when among friends and couldn't resist a camp fire, sometimes flavored with a little whiskey. In his later years, Dale enjoyed spending time with his 14 grandchildren. There was no surprise he still liked roughhousing with them - the same way he did with his own children years ago. Dale passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012 in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 57 years. Dale was predeceased by his father; Stan, Mother; Gladys Nelson, Sister; Sheila Westrand.
