Obituary of David Carl Johanson

David Carl Johanson was born on Monday, December 27, 1937 in Quesnel, BC to Carl and Frances Johanson. Dave grew up and attended the school of hard knocks in Quesnel BC. He enjoyed his cars & girls, a typical teen of the late 50's with his zoot pants and brylcream hair. He was a very serious young hard-working man who first worked delivering eggs & milk and had his own paper route. Dave met his first wife Ann Marie in Dawson Creek. They had 3 children Michael, Lynda and Stephan. He lost his daughter at the age of two. Dave and his family lived in various places in BC and the Yukon. He worked driving truck and in a hydro-plant. He moved to Dawson Creek in 1967 and the family called it home. Dave's cousin Jack Drott was the one to put him behind his first eighteen wheeler and teach him the trade that was a passion he held close to his heart for 50 years. He was a long haul trucker on the Alaska Highway and met a lot of lifelong friends while hauling groceries and the mail up and down that windy highway. He was a very capable handyman and very quick to help any of us at a drop of a hat. He loved his country music and was a great dancer, (After Lorna taught him to dance!!) In 1987 he met his best friend Lorna. They were married in 1990 at the Anglican Church in Pouce Coupe, BC. Dave and Lorna enjoyed 24 years together spending their time camping and travelling throughout Canada. Lots of trips were also taken down to the BC coast to visit his boys and grandchildren. At their Home in Dawson Creek Dave enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and shining up his prized possessions, his trucks! He also enjoyed doing improvements on their home which included just recently installing beautiful hardwood flooring which he was very proud of! Dave loved spending time with his three great grandchildren. He especially loved going for drives with Jacob, watching Addison dance, and playing truck with Jeremy. Grandpa Dave was and always will be adored by all three kids. We will miss his wet moustache kisses, his crazy dance moves, and his undivided love and support for all of us.
