Obituary of Frank Krapp

Frank Krapp, was born January 18, 1936 in Fairview, Alberta. He was the first child of Adolph and Mary Krapp. He was followed by his sister Celestine, his brother Hubert, sister Pauline and the youngest brother, Fred. Frank worked on the farm and in the Friedenstal area as a young man. He and John Becher were neighbors and the best of friends. He moved to Dawson Creek in 1956 but he still had a reason to return to Friedenstal and that was John's sister, Martha. Dad did not have far to go to meet the love of his life - she lived right across the road from his family farm. Frank and Martha were married on Thanksgiving day, October 12, 1959 at Friedenstal and took up residence in Dawson Creek. Frank worked at a variety of jobs including operating equipment at Tremblay Sand & Gravel. He then went into partnership with his Dad and Lucien Tremblay and, later, his brother Fred in the original T & K Service on 8th street. Here he began his career as a mechanic. They worked long hours in those days with Christmas day as the only holiday. Despite the long hours there was always time to spend visiting with friends and family, going to dances and playing cards. After Grandpa Krapp retired and the first T & K service closed in 1975, Frank went to work at Harv's Shell. He remained there until 1985 when he left to once again work with his brother Fred and Rene Tremblay in the new T&K Service on 115th avenue. He loved his work, he had many customers that became good friends. Frank worked at T&K service until his illness forced his retirement in 2009. On July 18, 1966 Donna came into their lives. From day one she was the apple of her Daddy's eye. Frank was devoted to his little girl and remained so throughout his life. Frank loved being outside, puttering in the yard and the garden and working in his garage. He was a kind and gentle man. The word easygoing was made for him and he seemed to have unlimited patience, especially for his daughter. Frank's first grandchild, Allison was born in 1998 and, like her mother, was also the apple of her Pappa's eye. Benjamin followed in 2000 and Frank was overjoyed. He now had a little helper who wanted to be a fix it man like his Pappa. Frank and Martha celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in October 2009. They were always an example of true love and commitment to each other. They were strongly committed to their faith and were a good example of what Christian marriage should be. Unfortunately Frank's illness forced their separation in April 2011 when he had to move to Rotary Manor. Frank passed away on Friday, March 30, 2012 in Dawson Creek, at the age of 76 years. A prayer service was held on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 7:00 pm at the Notre Dame Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, April 4, at 11:00 am at the Notre Dame Catholic Church. Fr. Michael Anyasoro officiated, Interment followed in the Brookside Cemetery. Frank will be sadly missed by his family and all those who loved him. We are comforted by knowing that he is with the Lord and the loved ones who predeceased him. We look forward to meeting him in heaven where we can enjoy eternity together. Frank was predeceased by his parents Adolph and Mary Krapp, brother Hubert Krapp and brother in law Lucien Tremblay.
