Obituary of Donald Keith Robertson

Donald Keith Robertson was born in Dawson Creek, BC on November 26, 1956 to Hugh and Charlotte Robertson. He was raised in Bessbourgh on a farm with nine other siblings, Don was the 7th child. Don's life was his family, they meant everything to him. Don was a kind and gentle man; he had a great sense of humour and an infectious laugh. His family and friends were most important to him and he always made time for everyone in his life. Even if he was busy himself chopping his winter wood or fixing something at home, the phone would ring and someone needed his help, Don never hesitated - off he would go to help with whatever task was asked of him. Don loved the outdoors, loved camping with Cheryl and the girls, looked forward to hunting season every year, he loved playing crib with Mel, getting winter wood with his brothers and helping Lance with his horses, even though Don was kind of afraid of horses. Dons' first job was with BC Rail. Then, his best friend Jack said come and work construction with us, and that is where Don started operating equipment. Together they worked for Borek. Don loved operating equipment but truly it was working with his buddies that he loved the most. Later he went to work on the pipeline with all of his brothers. It was around that time he met the love of his life Cheryl. They started spending a lot of time together and quickly after he didn't want to work in camps anymore. He wanted a job where he could be with Cheryl all the time. He started working at LP in the spring of 1987. In November 1987 Don and Cheryl were married. They bought their first house and shortly after Kailey Marie was born and three years later Brittany Dawn was born and what a joy, their family was now complete. Don loved his girls, loved being a dad and husband. In 2008, Don's first grandchild Rylee was born and what great joy she brought to their lives. Don was always the first one up in the morning. Rylee would hear Papa Don, wake up and they'd have breakfast together every morning. Rylee loved her "Papa Don". One of her favorite things was quading with Papa Don, even if it was up and down the back alley. Over the years Don talked about going back to work on a pipeline and in January Don joined his brothers and nephew and went to work in Fort Nelson. Going to work out of town was difficult, being separated from home and family for the first time in many years. Don never wanted to see people cry, he wanted to make everyone happy. If he was here today, he would ask not to shed a tear but to remember the good times, raise your glasswe'll see each other again someday. We are all thankful for all the special moments and will always cherish the memories, Don will be forever in our hearts. Memories presented by Angie Mercier.
