Obituary of Teddy William Alexander

Teddy William Alexander Ted Alexander was born on January 17, 1956 in Prince George, BC. He passed away peacefully at home on Saturday April 27, 2013. Ted is survived by his wife Ramona and his beloved daughter Danica Molson (Ryan), his older brothers Don (Donna) Alexander and family; Jim (Anne) and family. Ted was predeceased by his father Clayton Joseph and mother Beverly Joan. Eulogy I am incredibly honored to tell you the story of Teddy William Alexander, better known to me as "Dad". Dad and his brothers Don and Jim grew up on the family farm just north of town where the three of them helped out - milking cows, baling hay, picking rocks and all the other jobs on a mixed farm. They worked hard but still had lots of fun swimming and skating at the old creek and riding their horses all over the country. When Dad finished school he started his career as a heavy equipment operator and became one of the best buggy operators in the country building many of the roads and oil leases around the province. After their father passed away in 1983 Dad and Uncle Jim came back to their roots and every spring and fall they worked together with Uncle Don seeding and harvesting just like the old days. The brothers farmed for over 25 years together, and not once was there an angry word spoken between the three of them, which I think is both amazing and special. Dad was a great brother, and if his brothers knew if they ever needed anything he was always there to help them. His brothers loved him dearly and I know they will miss him forever. On June 1st, 1976 my Dad met my Mom and his life was forever changed. It was a short courtship but a long engagement. In July Dad went north to Fort Nelson to work on the Alaska Highway and Mom returned to Vancouver for college. The mailman as well as Auntie Joyce, who Mom was staying with while she attended school, said they must be in the midst the hottest romance of 1976 as never a day went by that a fat letter was not delivered to Mom! On July 14, 1976 Dad asked Mom to marry him (just a short six weeks after they met). On April 03, 1980 they decided to make it official and got married. Their family life became complete on March 2nd 1985 when I was born. There was absolutely nothing Dad would not do for us. His whole centre of the universe revolved around his little family. Dad was one of the three original employees of Louisiana Pacific responsible for bringing the union into that plant. He was so proud of this - he never wavered once, stood tall for his beliefs and took a lot of heat for his actions --- that was a very defining moment of his life. It goes without saying that Dad was an exceptional father and role model. I could stand up here until I am blue in the face telling the thousands of memories I have of him, but instead I want to talk to you about the five biggest lessons that I have learned from my Dad. These are the lessons I know he will want me to remember as I go through life. Dad, I hate that I am having to write this way too early, but I promise to cherish every memory you have given me, and to strive to always make you proud. You made me believe that I really was a princess just by the way you treated me. Thank you for teaching me these lessons, I'll love and miss you forever. Ted was cremated and a memorial service was held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Bergeron Funeral Chapel in Dawson Creek, British Columbia. Officiated by Pastor Rob Nock.
