Obituary of Marion Fay Vankoughnett
Marion Fay Vankoughnett, known as Molly or Ma, resided in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, formerly from Sydenham, Ontario. Marion was born in a little house in Ontario on February 12, 1933 to Sylvia Nellis. Marion was raised by her grandparents Frank and Violet Nellis. When our parents met and started dating, they got to talking and it turned out her husband (our Dad) was born in the same little house 6 years prior to our Mom, Marion, but in the bedroom on the backside of the house and Mom was born in the front bedroom in the little house. Everyone knew you could always stop at Marion's for a coffee and some food. We used to say Mom should hang a shingle: "Molly's Place ~ no one goes away hungry." Marion was a stay-at-home mom, she didn't work out much. She loved being a mom and taking care of her family. Mom loved to read everything, but the Bible was probably her favorite. I believe she read it from front to back at least 20 times. Our Mom loved to dance, sing, go bowling, play darts, and go camping with us all. I can say with all honesty, our Mom would have done anything for her children. She lived and died taking care of her children and as part of the family I know that to be true. When the great grandchildren would come to visit you could see her eyes light up as they came running to hug her and she would tickle and cuddle them. When they were bad, she knew how to discipline them as well, with a little pat on the bum. Now on the other hand when we were kids at home and were bad, we got told to go get a willow switch, and if you got a small one and it broke right away you had to go get a bigger one and start over. Marion passed at her home with family all around on July 30, 2014 at the age of 81. MOM, you were the BEST, we all LOVED you very much and still do. ALWAYS AND FOREVER, YOUR HUSBAND, CHILDREN, GRANDCHILDREN, AND GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, even your GREAT GREAT GRANDCHILDREN.
