Obituary of Eva Mary Thomson

Eva Mary (Livingstone) Thomson, a long time resident of Chetwynd, B.C. passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2014 in Chetwynd at the age of 82 years. Eva was born on June 11, 1932 to parents Archibald and Mary Livingstone. She grew up in the Progress area where she started her school years, then attended high school in Dawson Creek. She graduated from Notre Dame School and attended the Dawson Creek Business College where she completed her Business Course. Somewhere around 1954, a young fellow by the name of Jack Thomson ventured to the north from Makwa, Saskatchewan to work on road building and in the logging industry. Being young and single, what better place to be on a Saturday night than at the dances that were held regularly around the Dawson Creek area. Everyone knew how much Jack and Eva loved to dance, we are pretty sure this is where Jack wrapped those big arms around Eva and swept her off her feet. They were soon to be married in Dawson Creek. The first of their homes was a logging camp out in the Stewart Lake area. Their first child came on December 10, 1957. A beautiful baby girl named Louise. Next came Donna on August 4, 1959, with two children, and school on the horizon, the family made the move to Dawson Creek. Ronnie was the last to be born on July 24, 1964 in the Dawson Creek Hospital and in 1967 the family moved to Chetwynd. Eva was a stay at home mom until all the kids were in school. She then worked at H & H Insurance. She worked for Harold Amundsen for approximately ten years and then retired to be a Golf Pro. Sports were very much a part of the Thomson life. In Eva's last years after Jack passed away in 2006, she did some travelling with friends and enjoyed the trips immensely. Donna and her mom bought a motor home and did some travelling and had wonderful times together. Moberly Lake became a real family affair after Donna purchased lake front property. Eva loved to spend days out there sitting in the sun, riding the quad and boating. Since 2010 after Eva's first stroke, Donna has dedicated her life to her mom. Her and Scruffy have now become the rock that Eva was all those years. Eva was predeceased by her husband Jack, and her daughter Louise. Eva is survived by her daughter Donna Thomson, son Ron (Sandra) Thomson, son-in-law; Richard (Tracy) Barrette, grandchildren; Kristian and Kendal Barrette, Liam and Carly Thomson, Scruffy Thomson, sister Verna (Paul) Hill, and numerous other family members and many friends.
