Obituary of Doris Cox

Dorsey Dean Cox, better known as Doris, passed away Friday, October 3rd, 2014 in Dawson Creek, British Columbia. Doris was born April 3rd, 1941 in Willingdon, Alberta to John and Annie Gordy. Doris was predeceased by her husband, Gordon Cox, brother John Gordy, and sisters-in-law Iris Broadhead and Elaine Cox. Doris was raised on a farm in Flatbush, Alberta, later moving to Edmonton and Vermillion, Alberta where she fell in love and married Gordon Cox. Before long, two children, Warren and Penny, were born into the couple's family. Six years later, 1966, they all moved to Dawson Creek. Doris, Mrs. "C" as she was known, worked for 30 years with Gordon managing Stan Major Plumbing and Heating. They retired and spent as much time as they could wintering in Yuma, Arizona. Doris nursed Gordon through much illness till 50 years of marriage were up and they had to see each other later. Doris spent most of her time enjoying life. She loved her family and friends, she also loved to dance and loved dancing together with her friends, whether in Dawson Creek or Yuma. Doris filled her dance card with working together with the seniors community here or there. Within the last few years she met Al Paradis and they both fell in love; an excellent match. Still now Doris' dance card is filled with the love of God. Doris will be lovingly remembered by her companion, Al Paradis, her children Warren (Maryanne) Cox and Penny (Lee) Fortier, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, family and friends. A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 11th at 2:00pm at the Dawson Creek Alliance Church, officiated by Dr. Michael Stark. Interment will follow at the Brookside Cemetery in Dawson Creek, British Columbia. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Doris may be made by donation to the Dawson Creek & District Hospital Foundation. Donations will go toward a new chair bed for the Palliative Care room. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Bergeron Funeral Services and Crematorium.
