Obituary of Douglas Melroy Smith

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Doug Smith, a long time resident of Dawson Creek, B.C. on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 in Dawson Creek at the age of 81 years. Douglas Smith was born in Conquest, Saskatchewan on Wednesday, February 1, 1933. He was the oldest of three boys. The family moved to Edmonton, Alberta in 1944. He met and married Grace McNally. They had two daughters, Debbie & Wendy. Doug has five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Doug drove truck most of his life. He most recently owned Norkam Vacuum Trucks. He loved to drive. Mom and Dad would pack up and go for a drive. Sometimes they would go for a day or two or sometimes it could be for a couple of weeks, it didn't matter as long as he could drive. He loved animals, but dogs were his favorite. We always had at least one or two dogs. Doug was predeceased by his wife Grace, his daughter Debbie, and his brothers Bill and Wayne. Doug is survived by his daughter Wendy, four granddaughters, one grandson, and ten great grandchildren. With respect to Doug's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Interment at a later date. Very Respectfully Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium
