Obituary of Theresa Boisvert

Theresa Boisvert, a long time resident of Dawson Creek, B.C. passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 in Dawson Creek at the age of 79 years. Theresa St. Laurent was born May 10, 1935 in McLennan, Alberta she was the youngest of nine children born to proud parents Adolf and Elizabeth. She was raised in Jean Cote AB, went to school in Peace River, Girouxville and Donnelly. On September 27, 1954 she married her best friend and true love Simon. They lived on the Boisvert homestead 3 miles west of Girouxville. In 1957 they moved to a sawmill camp north of Fort St. John where Simon worked at the mill. In the spring of 1958 they moved to Dawson Creek, BC where they spent the remainder of their years raising their five children. Theresa was a stay at home Mom except for the few years they owned an Upholstery shop. She was a lady of many talents and even built us a playhouse. She was also involved in the Catholic Women's League for a number of years, Girl Guides and Brownies, the French Club and was on a bowling team for a while. Theresa's passion was sewing. She was never far from a sewing machine and even had one in the motor home. We know she went through a few of them. You name it she could make it even without a pattern. She made most of our clothes including our wedding dresses that we were very proud to wear. Crocheting and knitting were something else she loved to do especially once the grandchildren started to arrive. A big thing Theresa was well known for was her Christmas meals and baking. Everyone liked coming to our house. Her meat pie was the biggest favorite. Her raisin and apple pies were tops to. But let us not forget the Yule log that was the center piece every year. We so looked forward to eating it. YUMMY. Oh and her bread and sticky cinnamon buns were so good. We did a lot of camping which Mom very much enjoyed. Once Dad retired they would disappear with their motor home for the summer. In the last few years Mom made trips to Mexico, Vernon to see her sister and the Jasper/ Banff area. Trips she very much enjoyed. Theresa was predeceased by her loving husband; Simon. Theresa is survived by her children; Lorraine, Roger, Bernadette, Helen, Marcel, grandchildren; Anna, Virginia, Tracey, Darrel, Adam, Nicole, Neil, Ashley, Jamey and Alita, great grandchildren; Alisha, Elila ,Sadie-Ann and Torben, sister; Jean, brother; Robert and sisters in law; Lucille, Germaine, Jean D Arc, Therese and Lucille along with numerous nieces and nephews.
