Obituary of Ray Moore

Ray Moore, a longtime resident of Gundy, B.C. passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2015 in the Dawson Creek Hospital at the age of 78 years. Ray was born on September 12, 1936 in Prosperity, Alberta to parents Irvin and Anna Moore. When he was ten years old the family moved to Arras, B.C. and in 1956 they moved to the Blockline Road. When he got older, him and his brothers helped their dad in the sawmill. Ray worked various jobs, in 1963 he got a job as a mechanic at Centennial Motors in Fort St. John. In 1964, Ray married Janet Lefferson. They lived the next three years in Fort St. John, where Annette was born in 1965 and Randy was born in 1967. Later in 1967 the family moved to Gundy and in 1969 Lorie was born, followed by Scotty in 1970 completing the family. Ray drove gravel truck until 1970 when he started as a Redi-Mix driver for Revelstoke Concrete, later known as Inland. He worked there for 37 years and in the last few Ray did the mechanic work on the trucks too. When Ray retired he still did mechanical work at home as well as farming. He really enjoyed ice fishing at One Island Lake. It wasn't often that he came home without at least one fish. Ray also enjoyed watching the wild birds at the feeders, other than blue jays - those he tried to scare away. He liked to brag about the vegetable garden and flowerbeds even though we aren't sure if he knew the difference between weeds and plants, but it made Janet feel good that he was proud of them. Ray liked to play pool, especially the tournaments in Pouce Coupe. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were important to him. You could usually find a picture of one or all of them in his pocket or wallet. This last summer he spent a lot of time sitting on the swing on the front deck watching the birds with his dog for company, and it was even better if somebody would stop to visit him. Ray was predeceased by his parents Irvin and Anna, his sister Mildred, his brothers; Harvey, Art, Henry, and Cecil. Ray leaves to mourn his wife Janet of 50 years, their children; Annette (Doug), Randy (Tammy), Lorie (Clayton), Scotty (Shirley), his granchildren; Chrystal (Rob), Desiree (Rob), Thomas, Nicole, Tyler, Kaylee, and Rylee, his great grandchildren; Korrie, Layne, and Falon, along with his brothers; Eugene (Helen), Jim, and Herman, as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. Ray's family would like to invite you to a Celebration of Ray's Life on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 1:30 PM at the Gundy Hall. For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Ray to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 200-1212 West Broadway, Vancouver BC V6H 3V2. Very Respectfully Reynars Funeral Home and Crematorium.
