Obituary of Margaret Victoria Wood

Margaret Victoria Wood, a lifelong resident of Chetwynd, B.C. passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 in Kamloops, B.C. at the age of 64 years. Margaret was born in Moberly Lake on March 2, 1951 to parents Albert and Emma Savard and was the youngest of eleven children. Margaret called Chetwynd home her entire life. It was while working as a waitress at the Chetwynd Hotel that she met her soul mate and future husband, Bruce Wood. They were married on December 18, 1971 and immediately set out to raise a family. Their love for family reached beyond their own children as they took in and raised three of Margaret's nieces: Louise, Margaret, and Tracey. Bruce and Margaret's door was always open to any family member or friend that needed a warm meal or a place to stay. Despite the busiest of times, and most hectic of schedules, Margaret always made time and loved to attend her children's various games or tournaments. Whether it was basketball, baseball, or hockey - Margaret was there. She was a self-described 'bingo addict' and avid curler. Margaret will be remembered for her 'bonspiel enthusiasm' by teammates and opposition alike. She loved to laugh, was always quick with a joke, and she always spoke her mind. A proud mother, a loving and devoted wife, a favorite auntie, the youngest daughter, the littlest sister, and above all a friend; Margaret was all of these things and touched the hearts of all who knew her. Family would like to extend a special thank you to a dear friend of Margaret's and sister-in-law Roxanne Cervo for her tireless work over the past couple of years as Margaret's live-in caregiver, best friend, and confidant. Also, special thanks to her niece Connie Savard who as a caregiver and friend, traveled with Margaret to Kamloops during her final weeks. Margaret was predeceased by her parents Albert and Emma, her older siblings: Ralph, Wilfred, Walter, German, Willy, Frank, Gene, Florence, Alvina, and Eileen, as well as her husband of forty years, Bruce. Margaret is survived by her children: Kenny (Cindy), Keith, and Dody (Sheila), her grandchildren: Bayley, Zarah, Zinia, Benny, and her 'adopted' granddaughter Samantha, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Chetwynd Fellowship Baptist Church. Pastor Bill Evans officiated. Margaret was laid rest beside her husband, Bruce in the Tuscoola Mountain Cemetery.
