Obituary of June Elsie Breton

June Elsie Breton was born on May 29, 1933 at Beacon Hill Saskatchewan, Mom was one of 11 children; there had been 4 siblings that passed away at birth. There were 7 girls; Betty, Daisy, Gladys, Anne, Ruth and Grace, and 4 boys; Walton, Tex, and David. (David is the only surviving child of Mom's brothers and sisters and he lives in Quesnel.) Wesley, who was the oldest, had been accidentally shot when he was 16 and Mom never got to know him. The stories Mom would tell us, of her, and all her siblings, you could write a book. An especially favorite of Mom's was the one of Uncle Dave carrying her to school and when he got tired he just dumped her in the snow! Mom really loved to sing and dance her whole life!! She even met Tommy Hunter one time in Prince George. Mom taught all us kids how to dance by standing on her feet while she danced, we would listen to mom singing while playing her guitar for hours and hour Many of our cousins were in awe of how Mom could play and sing she gave them inspiration to be like her, especially Marina. There are way too many singers that Mom admired to list them all, so here are a few: Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison, Wilf Carter, Hank Snow, Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton. In June of 2009 Patty took Mom to see Charlie Pride, she was so excited and couldn't quit beaming while she sat there and listed to some of her favorite songs, like "Old Kaw-liga". In 2010 Mom got to have one of her dream trips come true, Patty and her husband Ken took her to Hawaii. Mom would talk about that trip a lot, she absolutely loved the trip and getting her feet wet in the ocean on Waikiki beach was a highlight. Mom was a "looker" and this resulted in a few encounters producing 7 beautiful children. Ron Dahl Mom's first husband was a truck driver and Mom would talk about how she loved to go on the long trips in his truck with him. Chris, Sharon and Curtis are their children. Years later after Ron and Mom had separated, she met Pat Petch, a cat operator. Their life together was a bit like gypsies. They lived in remote areas having to use "Planes, trains and automobiles" to get there. A favorite story Mom liked to tell was when Pat's sister Mae and her husband Mike came to see them, they had met up in Prince George. The women went shopping and bought matching outfits which was totally out of character for Mae! Mom was very proud of this and referred to it in her stories many times. Patty, Junie and Twilla are their children. After Mom and Pat went their separate ways Mom met Bud McIntyre, a grader operator. These were the years of spending our summers at Mile 143. This is where Mom decided to feed us rabbit she had hunted and said it was "chicken". This also where Mom decided it would be really funny to put a bear hide over her and scare us kids. We would all go fishing in the creek and pick berries for hours at Mile 143. Our baby brother Danny is the child of Mom and Bud. For the last 15 or so years Mom lived in Hythe, she would spend many summers taking the greyhound to Quesnel to visit Uncle Tex and Uncle Dave. Quite a few Christmases Mom would spend at her daughters, between BC and Alberta. We were so very lucky to have had our Mom as long as we did!!! There will never be another woman as strong as her ever. Her strength lives on in each one of us.
