Obituary of Leslie Zean "Les " Brundige

Les was born on 22 October 1929, in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. He was the son of John McQueen Brundige and Jessie Mildred (nee Westgate). He was the third of four boys in his family. Throughout his life he maintained close ties with his three brothers Walter, Glen and Gordon, many Aunts, Uncles and cousins. During Les' younger years he resided in Northern Saskatchewan where he attended school and after which he worked on various farms in the area. In 1952 he met and married Ethel Nixon, in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. During their early years together they moved frequently and during that time they had three daughters, Anne, Marilyn and Dana. After finally settling in Dawson Creek in 1962 their family was complete with the addition of a son David. During Les' working career he worked in the Logging Industry and as a Welder for various companies. He also instructed welding courses at the Northern Lights College for two years. In 1976 Les and Ethel created their own business and operated as Economy Welding. When Ethel passed in 1982 Les continued operating Economy Welding. In 1990 Les met Justina Reimer. They had two children, a son Clinton and a daughter Crystal. In 1995 Les and Justina were married. In 2000 Les retired from Economy Welding. A big part of Les' retirement was spent tinkering and repairing his vehicles and his home. If anyone needed assistance with their vehicle or advice Les was always there to give a helping hand. For further enjoyment he would relax with country drives, playing pool, and watching hockey on TV with his cat (Midnight) on his lap, in his Lazyboy chair. He also thoroughly enjoyed his many visits with family and friends and the scenery along the way. Les passed away on July 22, 2015 at the age of 85, after 53 years of residing in Dawson Creek. Les was predeceased by his Father, Mother, a sister Lottie and brothers Walter (Nettie) and Bill. Les will be sadly missed by his wife Justina, his six children, Anne (Doug), Marilyn (Mike), Dana (Jeff), David (Glenna), Clinton (Alysha), Crystal (Richard), nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Also left to mourn Les's passing are his brothers Glen (Liz), Gordon (Pat), his sister Bev, Wendy (Frank), Shirley (Al) and many nieces and nephews.
