Obituary of Wayne Vaughn Rogers

Wayne Rogers, a long time resident of Dawson Creek, B.C. passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2015 in Dawson Creek at the age of 68 years. Wayne Vaughn Rogers was born on February 14, 1947 in Canning, Nova Scotia to George and Geraldine Rogers. Wayne was the youngest of five children. In 1964 Wayne met his wife of 50 years, Judy. They were married on June 19, 1965 and together had two children; Charlotte Marie and Wayne Vaughn Jr. They were later blessed with grandchildren; Nathan Ryan Bratt, Ashly Marie Bratt and Mya Kelly Rogers and great-granddaughter; Sophie Dawn Marie Bratt. Wayne worked hard all his life in many different fields. In his early years he drove truck, then later working in the in-shore and off-shore fishing industry for a number of years. In the fall of 1980, Wayne made the adventurous journey out west to look for better work, settling in Dawson Creek. He started his long term career in construction. As the years went on, his son, Wayne, and then grandson, Nathan, along with many of their friends, followed in his footsteps. He was a good mentor and teacher to them all. Wayne has always been an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to tell stories and as the years passed the stories grew. One of his favorites was telling everyone how he killed a bear with his bare hands, but in reality him and young Wayne killed it with a rock. While fishing, he believed if he spit on his bait he would catch more and larger fish, so this was common practice for him. He always caught twice the fish he actually did and they were always at least a few inches longer than they really were. Wayne also enjoyed sitting around playing his guitar, blowing in a harmonica or even playing spoons. In the last few years, after his retirement, Wayne enjoyed spending his spare time at "the office", also known as Spikes Bar. There, he would catch up on the daily gossip, shoot pool or just shoot the breeze, but his day was never done until he finished watching Judge Judy on T.V. Wayne was predeceased by his parents; George and Geraldine and sister; Sheila. Wayne is fondly remembered by his wife; Judy, children; Charlotte and Wayne, grandchildren; Nathan, Ashly and Mya, great-granddaughter; Sophie, brother; Eugene and sisters; Shirley and Rosa. A Memorial Tea will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm in Reynars Tea Room. Interment will be at a later date. For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Wayne to the Step Up N Ride Society, 105-10419-10 Street, Dawson Creek B.C. V1G 3T8. Very Respectfully Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium
