Obituary of Glenn Richard Cormylo

Glenn Cormylo, a long time resident of Dawson Creek, B.C. passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016 in Beaverlodge, Alberta at the age of 69 years. Glenn was working in a mine in Bralorne, B.C. 52 years ago when he saw Shirley for the first time. He was having lunch in the cafe when she and her sister walked in. They never exchanged words that day, but as destiny would have it, they ran into each other again days later in a beer parlour. Glenn challenged her to a game of pool, and she beat him. He then challenged her to a game of shuffleboard, and she beat him at that too. Glenn gave up and for the rest of the night they sat and talked. He stopped by her house a few days later and again they sat and talked again for several more hours. Three daughters and one son later, they were a family. Years later came four granddaughters, one grandson, six great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Glenn considered himself blessed to have witnessed his granddaughters all marry fine men and he was overjoyed to have held and known his grandchildren. It was through his actions and words every day of his life, that all that was important to him was caring for Shirley, his children, and grandchildren. He did so by starting and running a successful refrigeration company with Shirley for 24 years. He was the service man and Shirley ran the office. He also flipped several properties and vehicles. Glenn was always looking for a new project. It wasn't always work, work, work. They loved the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, camping, four-wheeling, and taking long drives. They made several family trips across Canada. Quite often they would load up the truck and camper and drive to one of their favorite spots, Liard Hot Springs. They even made it up to Alaska. They also loved baking and cooking. Glenn taught Shirley how to bake bread, and she taught him how to dry moose meat. Glenn would often wake them up on weekends for breakfast singing and clanging pots and pans and have a big breakfast of crepes, pancakes, waffles, or something fabulous to eat. Glenn loved to joke, tease, and have fun. He loved having visitors, sitting and talking and laughing for hours. Glenn was kind and generous, always willing to help others. He was busy, but he always made time to be there for his family for advice, for support, and to guide them. He was also very talented and smart, strong and courageous. Glenn was a caring and loving husband and he was the most amazing father. A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 1:00 pm from Reynars Funeral Chapel. Father Louis Kwena officiated. Interment will be at a later date. Very Respectfully Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium Memorial Service 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 9, 2016 Reynars Funeral Chapel 1300 102nd Avenue Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Canada V1G 2C6
