Obituary of Robert Daniel "Bob" Duffy

Robert Duffy, a long time resident of Moberly Lake, B.C. passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 in Chetwynd, B.C. at the age of 71 years. Robert Daniel Duffy was born on April 20, 1944 in Makaroff, Manitoba to parents Tom and Anne Marie Duffy. Bob was their ninth child, second youngest out of ten children. Bob started his working career with General Electric in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was flown to the Arctic, North of Greenland, where they performed maintenance work for the native villages. Bob started driving taxi when he lived in Faro, Yukon with his brother Ed. He also worked with Midwest Diamond Drilling in the Yukon near Dawson City, as well as Pot Ash Mine as a blaster in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, and moved to B.C. to work on the Bennett Dam. In 1969, at the age of 25, Bob moved to the Peace River Area and fell in love with both the beauty of the area as well as it's beautiful ladies. He was a handsome man and had no trouble with women. It was those beautiful blue eyes. His brother Ed also described him as a fighter. He liked to tease. He said or did anything for a laugh and he didn't care at whose expense. What a bug, no matter what the situation was, Bob always had to bug. No matter what, Bob was there for people. He was a popular man and was a good friend to anyone and everyone. Bob would have friends coming to check in on him all the time. Sometimes there would be a houseful. Bob would say exactly what was on his mind and he had no filter. He may have been a grouch in his last few years, but he was a sweetheart when he wanted to be and always still as funny. He hated having anyone make a fuss over him. He hated it, but he also loved it. He was a proud man who didn't show much affection at times. Bob enjoyed the outdoors, spending much of his time hunting and fishing. A Celebration of Bob's life was held by his family on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 12:00 am at the Saulteau First Nation Community Hall. Interment will be at a later date.
