Obituary of Eric Phillip Haynal

Eric Haynal, a long time resident of Dawson Creek, B.C. passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 in Taylor, B.C. at the age of 58 years. Eric Phillip Haynal was born on September 28, 1957 in Avonlea, Saskatchewan. Eric was always out having adventures; running, jumping, flying off of things and behind things. He was discovering things, creating, and breaking things - many of those were rules, or his bones. Eric and his sister, Jennifer, would ride bikes seven miles to Waldesa Lake. She would paddle in the lake close to shore while he swam the three miles across and back before riding the seven miles back home. He did not sit still. Eric's struggle was to stay awake to what life had to offer in the midst of the confusion and pain. He was intensely sensitive and acutely aware, he felt deeply, reacted strongly, but could not always adequately articulate or express it. He valiantly kept putting himself in an 'appropriate' box in order to behave in a manner the world expected. It was as if there was too much of him to contain in his human form. He literally vibrated. He tried very hard to contain himself and he struggled with being too much. Eric was successful. He was a skilled craftsman with bricks and a successful business owner. He passionately pursued his interest in sports and cars. He was the most loyal son, brother, uncle, and friend. Eric had the kindest soul and he was never mean or ever petty. He endeavored to do no harm to anyone. Eric was the most successful in choosing his marriage partner. Terri's love and loyalty restored him. Eric admired her, he respected and adored her. Terri was the source of his greatest joy and comfort. Eric appreciated life and was willing to struggle and endure, to feel joy, and to be awake to life's experiences. A perfect summation of Eric can be seen as: Eric saw the ocean, not the water. He saw the forest, not the trees. He was a universe amongst a million stars. He was one of the most beautiful hearts we will ever know, and we know just how lucky we are to have been one of those stars in his universe. A Memorial Service was held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 7:00 PM at the Notre Dame Catholic Church. Father Louis Kwena officiated. Interment will be at a later date.
