Obituary of Eugene Hurst Zimmerman

Eugene Hurst Zimmerman, 88, of Chetwynd, BC, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016. Eugene died peacefully surrounded by his family. Eugene was born on October 20, 1927 in Denver, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to Harvey and Anna (nee Horst) Zimmerman. Eugene worked as a cement block layer and a carpenter. In 1967, he moved his family to Chetwynd, BC, Canada where he lived the rest of his life. In Canada he worked as a carpenter. He enjoyed traveling and drove to almost all of the states in the United States, as well as most of the provinces in Canada. He enjoyed photography, watching birds and wildlife, and spending time with his family. Eugene is survived by his youngest brother George (Elaine) Zimmerman of Reading, PA.;his former spouse Geraldine and their four children: Jean (Gerald) Empson of Nanaimo, BC, Karen (Hartley) Blatz of Cecil Lake, BC, Eugene (Erilyn) Zimmerman of Chetwynd, BC and Daryl (Bernadet) Zimmerman of Chetwynd, BC; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren in Canada; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives in Lancaster County, PA. Eugene was predeceased by his parents, Harvey and Anna Zimmerman and his brothers Allen, Harvey, James, Carl and sisters Elva, Anna Mary and Edna.
