Obituary of Edward "Ed" Roblin

Ed Roblin 1952-2016 He was born Clarence Edward Roblin. Throughout his life, Ed had many great firsts: first step, first word, first tooth, first kiss, first love, first child. Today, unfortunately, is about Ed's lasts. This afternoon we took Ed for his last ride in his work truck. Your shift is over Brother. If you believe what the women say, get Ed out of his work clothes and he cleans up real good. Ed was born June 23, 1952 in Dawson Creek. He lived his whole life here. He was father to two daughters, Jackie & Nathacia. Grandfather to three beautiful granddaughters, Andraya, Jaidyn & Keltie, all of whom he adored and was very proud of. He also had a special place in his heart for his niece Barb McLeod, whom he always called "BRAT". In 2012, he married the love of his life, Karen Rudman. After spending 24 years together, little did Ed know, he officially became part of the Gunter Clan. Ed had a great love of animals. First, there was Shadow & Tuffy, then Miss Kitty moved right in. Later Rufus was adopted from his granddaughters. Some days the Lazy Boy chair wasn't big enough for them all to snuggle up in and watch TV. Ed was predeceased by his father Albert Roblin; mother Annie Roblin; sister Bev Jensen; and brothers Bill and Donny Roblin. Ed started out his working career by slinging beer and bartending, he made good money at it let me tell you. He then went roofing. Do you know what roofers do when it's raining? They go golfing which happened a lot! Crazy! He also drove delivery truck before going into business for himself - Independent Pilot. In 2005, he joined the escort service. Really! Under the Department of Transportation Act, a Pilot Car Driver is listed as an escort! He loved being his own boss. As much as he loved Karen, I was shocked to learn he had a girlfriend. The first time I went north with Ed and Dan, we were coming into Fort St. John. On the radio, Ed said, "We are going to my girlfriend's for lunch!"" HMMMM," I thought, "he's testing me." On the radio, I asked Dan, "Is he serious?" Dan said "Yea, we stop there whenever we go through here." Today Wendy's restaurant serves her last meal. Morning coffee with the guys? Stuie's Diner is the place you wanna be. Always something to talk about, even the odd shaped pancakes on Ed's plate. He was an avid pool player, probably spent too much time there, but oh well. His bowling technique he inherited from his mother, we think. If he didn't get a strike every frame, the woman in him came out, LOL. I was never much of a hunter, but I know Bob, Dan and Lloyd could all share stories about that because I have heard a few of them. Yea, Ed loved summer. Car Shows. Golfing. Camping and Side by Side trips, with a little poker in the evenings. Ed had a niche where he collected lighters, they number in the hundreds. Too many to fit in his beautiful showcase. Anyone that knew Ed, knew that he did not want a big fuss made of his passing. Two of his beautiful granddaughters, Andraya and Jadey-Bear want everyone to enjoy a burger, one of Grampa's favourite foods, knowing that he wouldn't want any part of those fancy little sandwiches. A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Seniors Hall in Dawson Creek. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Ed may be made by donation to the British Columbia Heart and Stroke Foundation, 1480 - 7 Avenue, Prince George, British Columbia V2L 3P2. Arrangements were entrusted to Bergeron Funeral Services & Crematorium Ltd. Service 1:00 pm Saturday, May 14, 2016 Senior Citizens Hall 1101 McKellar Ave DAWSON CREEK, British Columbia, Canada V1G 2S2
