Obituary of Robert Arnold Frank McKechnie

Robert Arnold Frank McKechnie October 1948 - April 2016 Robb was born in Campbell River B.C., and spent his childhood in Terrace Bay, Ontario on the North Shore of Lake Superior. In the late 1960's, Robb moved to Prince George B.C., became a welder and travelled for work in B.C. and Alberta. He lived in Prince George for more than 40 years where he married Alice Faye Hingley and raised their two boys - James and Harley. Robb had a great sense of humour and was always gregarious and entertaining as a storyteller. He is remembered by family members as a daring guy who seemed to have no fear of life. His family and friends often called on him for his inventiveness in building and fixing things - from pergolas to vaulted cottage ceilings or building decks. He had a big heart and was always willing to pitch in and lend a hand. Robb is survived by his sons: James McKechnie and his wife Arliss (Janssen) and their children Haley and Landon and Harley McKechnie and his wife Carrie (Gibbard) and their children Brendan, Macey and Tate. He is also survived by his sister Alice-Jeane McKechnie, husband William Broughton and his nephew Charles Williams and his great niece and great nephew Connor and Kirsten Williams. Robb is sadly missed by his family who are grappling with his unexpected death from complications related to his long battle with cancer. Donations of remembrance can be made to the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation, 800 College Plaza, 8215-112 Street, Edmonton, Alberta T6G 2C8. Arrangements were entrusted to Bergeron Funeral Services & Crematorium Ltd.
