Obituary of Ken Piper

Ken (Clinton) Piper Ken was born May 24, 1929 in the Pouce Coupe Red Cross hospital to Vera (Hatch) Piper and Bud Piper, a trapper and early homesteader of the Kilkerran district. His family consisted of two sisters, Fay (Clemens) and Ilda (Halloran), and two brothers, Perry and Bruce Piper. He married Bonnie Dowd December 29, 1951 and celebrated their 64th anniversary last December. Their first child, a daughter, Laurie was born January 3, 1953; son Lonnie, July 16, 1954; followed by son Ray, November 22, 1959; and Pamela, March 12, 1962. Ken was a pioneer at heart and was never happier than when he was cutting brush and trees, putting new land into cultivation. He was a good mechanic and could charm anything into running. He rebuilt old machinery and designed and built some farm equipment. He looked forward to a fishing trip after seeding and a fall hunting trip after harvest. He enjoyed traveling, was an avid reader, loved to play bridge, dance, play pool and go to garage sales. He had a deep love for his wife, children and extended family members. We are grateful for the wonderful support of our family and friends during this difficult time. Ken passed away May 13, 2016 in the Dawson Creek hospital at the age of 86 years. A funeral service was held May 20, 2016 at the Dawson Creek Alliance Church, officiated by Blaine Nicholson. Interment followed in the Rolla Cemetery.
