Obituary of Edith Evelyn Lasser

Edith Lasser, a long time resident of Chetwynd, B.C. passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016 in the Chetwynd Hospital at the age of 84 years. Edith Evelyn Howe was born on Thursday, August 4, 1932 in the Royal Columbian Hospital at New Westminster, British Columbia; her parents were Grant and Mildred Howe. The family lived in Pitt Meadows and other lower mainland locations prior to returning to Pitt Meadows and purchasing a dairy farm in November 1937. During the remainder of the years of the Depression and World War II, the family sold milk, chickens and potatoes. Edith attended elementary school in Pitt Meadows and High school in Maple Ridge. One day while riding on the school bus she became annoyed by a boy and pulled his hat down over his face - her future brother-in-law Douglas. Charles knew her bother Allen, one day Edith went to the theatre with the boys, and by the time the show ended, Charlie had a date with Edith. Edith completed nurses training at Essendale after high school. During this time Edith and Charles dated and a few months after graduation they married on August 4, 1954. The newlyweds made their home on the Lasser Family farm in Pitt Meadows. The dairy farm eventually turned to raising beef cattle. Charles and Edith brought Lasser Ranch of Chetwynd in 1971 and moved the family during 1974. In Chetwynd, Edith was involved in many clubs and activities over the years. Such as the Hospital Auxiliary, the Lions Club, her weekly ladies group. Edith was predeceased by her parents Grant and Mildred, and her brother Alan Howe. Edith is survived by her loving husband Charles Lasser, her daughter Sheri (Rod) Crawford, her sons Bob Lasser, and Don (Rhonda) Lasser, her grandchildren Joseph (Laura) Crawford, Michael (Anna) Crawford, and Jennifer Chen, her great grandchildren Ava Crawford and Kaira Crawford, as well as her brother-in-law Douglas Lasser, and her niece Patti (Richard) Hues. A Celebration of Edith's Life was held on Monday, August 19, 2016 at the Chetwynd Curling Arena with Pastor Lori Mickelson officiating. Interment to follow at a later date.
