Obituary of Spencer Andrew Mitchell "Spenny" Gourley

Born in Trail, BC., on May 6, 1998, Spencer Gourley was a chosen and treasured child, always smiling and laughing. Spencer excelled in all areas, from his job at Canadian Tire, to school, to his relationships with an overwhelming number friends and acquaintances. A team player, especially in hockey (a true Canadian Boy!!), he also excelled in individual pursuits, especially graphic arts. An early introduction to video games fired his imagination and abilities in the world of computers and graphic arts - with so many talents and abilities, the future never looked brighter! I miss my buddy, my pal, the light of my life, and I've never been more proud of anything in my life as I was with Spenny! I have so many memories of the last eighteen years it seems impossible that it's over - I can still hear him flying up the stairs calling me "Faszha" (from Austin Powers Goldmember!), or challenging me to a wrestling match! With similar tastes in music, he still challenged me with his own tastes which became an integral form of communication between us, and anyone else that chose to listen!! Through hardships and tough times, Spenny's light shone brightly giving me direction. A young man full of love, honesty, and integrity, he understood as we grow and mature we begin to see truth and love in others, and that which lays before us is so much more. Many long philosophical discussions about life, love, and companionship convinced me Spenny was a deep, thoughtful young man who was very sensitive to others. We talked of many esoteric subjects over the years like the origins of man, the stars, reality, conspiracy theories, and everything in between. We talked of adoption, as he was adopted, and his desire to meet his birth mother. We talked of his desire for romantic, committed love, and his respect for women. Poised on the doorstep to the rest of his life, his sudden departure has taken us all by surprise. In the end, sadly, Spencer taught us all to appreciate that life is precious, hold those close to you in your heart, and never miss an opportunity to help those in need. Always understand the importance we all have in each other, and be positive and loving with those in your life. Special Memories of Spenny presented by his father; Scott.
