Obituary of Spencer Andrew Mitchell Gourley

First, I would like to thank everyone for their kindness and support for my family over the last very difficult week. It means a lot to us to know that Spence has impacted so many lives. To sum up what Spencer meant to me in a few short paragraphs is impossible. Anyone who knew him knew what a kind and genuine person he was. He was beautiful inside and out. Spencer had such a huge life in the short amount of time he was with us. With his competitiveness in sports and warm heart for people and animals, he filled our lives with so much love and laughter. I am so incredibly grateful to have shared his precious life with him. Spencer was more like a second pesky little brother to me; we laughed, we cried, we fought, and laughed again. Almost every weekend growing up, Spence my brother and I would ride bikes or quads, jump on the trampoline, build things out of lego or play Nintendo; it didn't matter, we always had fun. I had this doll stroller when I was younger and Spencer loved it when I pushed him around in it, although when we showed him pictures of it years later his face became pretty flushed. He was so easy to keep happy and even easier to tickle. I remember reading him books before bed and having to do silly voices for every character, then the traditional stall of asking for water right before lights out. Spencer was very into Call of Duty and HALO. He had a set up in his basement with four screens and a whole area dedicated to gaming. Spenni was his YouTube channel that he was very passionate about where he took the time to make videos and edit them. As you all know, he was very computer savvy. With all of Spencer's hobbies, he still made time to go for coffee and hang out with friends and family. He was so easy to get along with. Spencer was a good spirit and had a huge heart. As Spencer grew from a young boy into a teenager, I could see the man that he would become- strong, steadfast and loving. He loved sports, his first favorite hockey team was Calgary Flames and then Montreal Canadiens and of course he was a huge soccer fan. He was so obsessed with hockey when he was little I helped him fabricate a fake "Stanley Cup" just for him to win it in a game in the basement. He was always competitive but humble as he got older. It was an endearing quality. And I will never forget the tight hugs I received from him every time I saw him, even at 18! Spencer may you go in peace and I will always keep your memories close to my heart- until we meet again.
