Obituary of Milissa Irene Potter

Our Mom, Milissa Irene Beck, was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta on May 1, 1943. She was the only and very spoiled daughter of Milton and Irene Beck. I remember a story of her racing home in her car in the early morning hours after missing her curfew, she missed a stop sign and cut off the milk delivery truck. With that, all those glass bottles didn't fair to well. Anyway, she didn't stop and got home and snuck into her room quietly. Unfortunately for her, the milk man knew exactly who she was and was knocking at the door right behind her. Even though she got caught that time, it didn't slow her down. She loved fast cars and racing with her Dad down the roads after supper. I imagine her teenage years were hard on them. Mom finished her schooling in Medicine Hat and went to work at the glass factory with her mom. That didn't suit her, so she went to night school to learn book keeping. From there she went to work at Horne and Pittfield in Medicine Hat. In between she met and married Ken Reuer and had two absolutely wonderful children. If you haven't guessed it was my brother, Kerry and myself, Denise. She made a major decision to move to Brooks, AB and the three of us went on a new adventure. Here she started doing books for the Crown Mart Lumber. At this point she met what was meant to be the love of her life, Doug Potter, or as my children called him BUMPA. They married and brought one more wonderful little bundle, Shauna, into to this perfect family of five now. Mom and Doug worked together at the Crown Mart for a while and then decided that Snyder's Autowreckers was a better fit for them both. After about ten years, mom made the move to Sturgeon Accounting where she stayed until they decided that a move north was in the stars. They bought land at Gordondale, Alberta with myself, Denise and Lawrence in the spring of 2007. They then proceeded to make a beautiful new home and life, with many camping, quadding and family times. Mom loved nothing better than jumping on her quad and heading out for the day. But mom got bored of too much home time that she was on the hunt for work again. She found a great job at UFA in Baytree that suited her just fine. She made new friends with coworkers and customers alike. Unfortunately, we lost Doug in 2014 and a little of her light dimmed. Mom carried on strongly, just a little quieter, like she always did. She even learned to drive that big ol' motorhome by herself. Mom was a very protective mother, grandma and great-grandma that tried to take care of us all in her own way. There will be an emptiness in the rest of our lives but are thankful she has been reunited with the love of her life. Until we meet again, WE LOVE YOU MOM!!!!!
