Obituary of Joyce Arleen Crozier

Joyce Arleen Crozier (ne Merrick) of Dawson Creek, British Columbia passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 in Rotary Manor. Joyce is predeceased by her parents Earl and Dorothy Merrick and her husband, Frank Crozier. She is survived by her brothers John (Yvonne), George (Irene), Jake (Roxanne), Gordon (Carolyn), and sister-in-law Lorraine, along with many nieces and nephews and their families. Joyce was born on July 5, 1940 to Earl and Dorothy Merrick in the old Pouce Coupe Hospital. She was the first of five children and only daughter in the family. She lived with her parents on their homestead outside Pouce Coupe and then on the farm east of Dawson Creek when they relocated a few years later. In her teenage years, she went to live with her aunt down on the coast and returned to the Peace country in 1961. She lived with her family on the farm until she met and married the love of her life, Frank Crozier, in 1982. Joyce and Frank loved to be involved in their community and were members of the Elks, and Joyce was an active member in the Pouce Coupe Community Church. Due to health issues, they resided in the old Rotary Manor and then the Pouce Coupe Haven. They were happily married until Frank's passing in 2003. Joyce returned to the beautiful new Rotary Manor when the Haven was closed. Joyce was well known for her bright smile that could light up a room. Joyce loved her friends and family very much and any visit with them was full of love and laughter. Joyce's room was full of photos and mementos of the people and places she loved. Visiting Joyce was an uplifting experience because she was always happy to see you and tell you all her stories. She was a kind and generous person who always wanted to send you on your way with something she'd made or seen and though of you. Joyce had a beautiful smile and a beautiful soul and those who knew her were blessed to know her. Joyce's ashes will be laid with Frank in the Willow Valley Cemetery in a private family service at a later date.
