Obituary of Deloris Alfrieda Greentree

Deloris Greentree, a resident of Dawson Creek, B.C. passed away on Monday, September 19, 2016 in Dawson Creek at the age of 76 years. Alfrieda Deloris Dyck was born on September 28, 1939 to Frank and Catherine in Yarrow, B.C. She was the youngest of seven children, with five brothers and one sister. She lost her mother at an early age and with her sister already married this left her to make meals and clean the house. In February of 1958 she married Henry Giesbrecht and they had three children, Frank born in 1959, Merl in 1961, and Maxine in 1967. After going their separate ways in 1977, she devoted her time to her children and her job at the hospital. Deloris met Orville Greentree and moved to Portage Avenue in Chilliwack. In the fall of 1979 they moved up north to Fort St. John and then to Cecil Lake where they farmed and she continued to work at the hospital while Orville worked at Texaco, which later became Esso. One of her happiest days was when they got married in 1988 at the little log church in Cecil Lake. They farmed there until 1991, when Orville retired from Esso and they moved down to Vernon so she was closer to her sister Terry. They lived in Vernon for about eight years and then moved back up north to the Bonanza area where they farmed until 2011. Family was everything to Deloris; she loved nothing better than when they came to visit and always enjoyed playing cards. She also loved the family reunions that Teresa would put together, Thanksgivings, Christmases, and the New Years get-togethers with the family up north. Orville passed away in 2012 and Deloris stayed on the farm until her 75th birthday. At that time things were getting too tough for her to continue living there so she moved into a condo in Dawson Creek. She was a strong woman that had gone through life with the love of friends and family and will be missed by them all. Deloris was predeceased by her husband Orville Greentree, her daughter Maxine, and her grandson Branden. A Funeral Service was held on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Bonanza Hall. Pastor Gary Henderson officiated. Interment followed in the Hillhaven Cemetery, Bonanza, Alberta. For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Deloris to the Rotary Manor Resident Council Fund 1121-90 Avenue, Dawson Creek, B.C.
