Obituary of Donna Mae Thomson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our sister, auntie and friend, Donna Mae Thomson. Donna was taken from us suddenly on Thursday, October 6, 2016 in Chetwynd, B.C. at the age of 57 years. Donna Mae Thomson was born on August 4, 1959 to parents Eva and Jack. Her siblings were Ron and Louise. Donna was hired with West Coast Energy in May of 1991 and in June of 1992 she moved into the position of Utility Man. Donna helped lead the way at West Coast Energy hiring women in non-traditional roles. After the Utility Man position she moved into the role as Planner/Scheduler because of her computer skills and then into a Maintenance Planner in 1996. In April of 2001, Donna started as the Maintenance Support Interim Team Leader for planning and warehousing in Fort Nelson so she could develop her skills to lead and mentor others. She wanted to be closer to her family so after a year she moved back to PRGP as an O&M Coordinator in March of 2002. In February of 2014 she wanted a changed and was transferred to the Dawson Plant and continued to work there as a senior planner until she went back to Chetwynd and PRGP in the senior planner role in the fall of 2015. Donna had a way with people, her energy, commitment and inspiration of her team and to others with whom she worked. After her sister Louise died in 2001, Donna took on a role of being an Auntie who was constant in the lives of Kris and Kendal. She did her best to be someone who was always there for them. After her dad passed, she took on the job of being there for her mom. Donna was a daughter that most of us can only hope to be. She was so dedicated to her mom and taking care of her. Donna was blessed with this gift that made her a person that everyone wanted to be around. She had circles of friends beyond what most people would ever know in a lifetime. One of Donna's passions in life was sports where she always excelled whether it was baseball, curling, hockey, volleyball or golf. She was extremely competitive which was only overshadowed by her sportsmanship and humbleness. Donna was a very gifted athlete but played with fun and integrity. She was well respected not only for her ability but also as a person. She will be sadly missed but never forgotten. Donna was predeceased by her mother Eva, dad Jack, sister Louise and most recently, her best friend Scruffy. Donna is survived by her brother Ronnie (Sandra), sister-in-law to Richard and Tracy, her nieces and nephews Kris, Brooke, Kendal, Deny, Liam and Carly, and her new handsome great nephew Louis and beautiful great niece Wyndsor. Donna was so very proud of her family. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Chetwynd Fellowship Baptist Church. Pastor Bill Evans officiated. Interment followed in the Tuscoola Mountain Cemetery. For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Donna to The Canadian Diabetes Association Box 26331 STN BRM B, Toronto, Ontario,M7Y 4R1. Very Respectfully Reynars Funeral Home and Crematorium Memorial Service 1:00 pm Saturday, October 15, 2016 Chetwynd Fellowship Baptist Church 4817 53 St Chetwynd, British Columbia, Canada
