Obituary of David Ernest Bergen

David Ernest Bergen was born June 23, 1968, in Manning, Alberta, the third child of David and Mary Bergen. He grew up at La Crete, Alberta until the age of 15, when he moved with his parents to McBride, BC. He spent much of his early adult life in Baytree after his family moved there in 1987. This was also where he met Linnea, who became the love of his life. They were married June 5, 1999 and were blessed to spend 17 years together as husband and wife. Dave and Linnea made their home in Baytree on their farm where the many trees they planted together will continue to grow and remind his family of the man who faithfully checked their progress. Their family grew to three when Franklin was born July 4, 2001. Amber joined them December 12, 2002, and on December 24, 2005 Joshua completed their family of five. Over the years, Dave worked at a variety of jobs, from farm hand to running a skidder and working at a saw mill. After he got his Class 1 license in 2000, he made his living driving truck. First he drove for other companies, hauling gravel, logs and crude oil. He bought his own truck in 2011 and became an owner/operator. Dave passed away peacefully surrounded by his family November 21, 2016 in the Grande Prairie hospital. Sorrow, grief, and loneliness are mixed with incredible relief and joy at the thought of Dave, free from struggles and pain, singing and yodeling in the presence of Jesus, and being reunited with loved ones there. Dave was predeceased by his mother, Mary and his brother, Tim. Left behind to join him someday are his loving wife, Linnea; his children, Franklin, Amber and Joshua. Also left to cherish his memory are his parents, David and Helena Bergen, his siblings Mary (Mark) Bontrager, Dan (Suzi) Bergen, Phoebe (Rob) McCarlie, Jake (Andrea) Bergen, Susan (Jake) Martens, Helen (Henry) Krahn, Paul (Jennifer) Bergen, Esther (Daniel) Cram, Joe (Heather) Bergen, and Jim (Jenn) Bergen. His many nieces and nephews and numerous friends will also miss him greatly. You have taught us some very valuable lessons, Dave. Every time someone came to visit you they came away amazed at your positive attitude, your contentment, and acceptance of what life handed you. You taught us that family time is precious and more important than any grievances, and forgiveness is always the way to go. We know we'll see you again soon. A funeral service was held November 28, 2016 at the Rolla Bible Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Gary Henderson. Interment followed in the Rolla Community Cemetery.
