Obituary of Andrew Glen Kilgour

Glen Kilgour 1926 - 2016 Andrew Glen Kilgour was born October 31, 1926 in Three Hills, Alberta, the second of four children born to Andrew and Margaret Kilgour. Raised on a farm south of Three Hills, Glen had a lifelong love for horses and the outdoors. As a youngster, he made numerous trips with his father to the mountains west of Sundre and a career in guiding and outfitting began. In 1948, Glen married his first wife Hilda and set up a ranch and outfitting business in Bearberry. They had four boys, Jim, Donald, Robert and Douglas; Donald was killed in a motor vehicle accident in 1971. Glen and Hilda separated in 1976. Glen purchased a hunting area in northern B.C., setting up residence at Cassiar. Glen and Claudette met and were soon married. In 1986, the hunting area was sold and they moved to a ranch near Taylor, B.C., raising horses and cattle. Most of the horses were sold, but Glen kept the cow herd going. He enjoyed reading, telling stories, reminiscing, and recently got into the high-tech world of computers and going on Facebook on a regular basis. Glen passed away peacefully December 17, 2016 at his home in Taylor. He is fondly remembered by his wife, Claudette Kilgour; sons Jim (Terry) Kilgour, Robert (Carol) Kilgour, Doug (Diane) Kilgour; step-daughter Theresa (Elwyn) Cunningham; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbours. Glen was laid to rest December 23, 2016 in the Sundre & District Cemetery, Sundre, Alberta. A memorial service will be held at the end of June, 2017, details to be announced.
