Obituary of Kenneth George "Ken" Enghnell

Kenneth George Enghnell 1932 - 2017 Kenneth George Enghnell was born in Sunset Prairie, British Columbia on February 22, 1932; the third child of Emil and Pauline Enghnell. Ken's formal education consisted of attending the Sunset Prairie one-room elementary school house, before setting off on a number of varied career paths and a life time of learning. First, he farmed a section close to his parents, along with custom combining for neighbors. Then on to employment with a survey crew for the new PGE Railway from Dawson Creek to Prince George. Next owning and running a small portable sawmill led to the necessity of obtaining a Scaler's License. After that he spent a few years trucking for propane companies in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John. Reaching back to past experiences, he became a surveyor for the BC Government in the Stewart Meziadin area followed by several years as a grader operator in Meziadin Work Camp for the Department of Highways. A rollover accident injured Ken, forcing him into semi-retirement. But Ken's life did not stop at his accident. He traveled extensively in North America from the Arctic Circle to Mexico. He pursued a number of hobbies: culinary courses; studying and debating the bible; playing the accordion; sailing; CB radio; illicitly operating a still for personal consumption and the delight of his closest friends; tinkering with and altering vehicles, campers, equipment of all kinds including his electrical scooter, in the last few months of his life. He just never stopped until the very end, passing away in Penticton, British Columbia on January 16, 2017. Ken was predeceased by his parents along with sisters Selma Embree and Rita Ellwood. He is survived and remembered by his sisters Evelyn Clark and Pearl Neufeld, nephews and nieces Gerald Neufeld, Reg Neufeld, Judy Bonderud, Roxie Napoleon, Steve Mounsey, Greg Ellwood, and Tanya Verney, as well as numerous grand-nephews and grand-nieces. At Ken's request, no service will be held.
