Obituary of Ronald "Ron" Sprang

Ron was born June 6, 1941 in Flatbush, Alberta where he grew up, moving to Drayton Valley, Cold Lake, Hinton, Golden, Edmonton, Fort Nelson, Fort Simpson, Inuvik, Maldives (Indian Ocean), and other places in between for work. He made many trips with much time spent in the Caribbean sailing and scuba diving. He enjoyed all things mechanical: owning, operating and maintaining cars, trucks, graders, backhoes, snowmobiles, quads, aircraft, motorboats, sailboats, and, like his father, seemed able to fix them all. Ron tried many careers from ranching to saw mills, trucking, equipment operator, mechanic, and gold mining. His predominant career was in aviation. As a commercial pilot, he flew various "missions" and scheds from the Arctic Ocean to the Pacific and the Indian Ocean, landing by floats, skis or wheels. His love of guitar, coupled with a very good singing voice, entertained family and friends at all get-togethers and brought many visitors to camp sites, the yacht and various homes. Ron moved to Dawson Creek in the early 90's where he lived until his passing February 10, 2017. Left to mourn are his three sons James, Maury and Ken (Diane) Sprang; grandsons Carter and Spencer; sisters Lorrain "Laurie" Siemens and Annette Blondin; nephews Randy Jensen (Sandra Jewson), Lucas Blondin, Michael Siemens, and niece Amanda Blondin. Ron was predeceased by father Kurt in 1967, mom Louise in 1996, nephew Jason Blondin in 1992 and niece Kristin "Shelly" Jensen in 1994. He was a positive influence in many lives and will be sadly missed. A celebration of Ron's life was held at Bergeron Funeral Services on February 17, 2017 in Dawson Creek, British Columbia. Donations in memory of Ron may be made to a charity of choice. Service 2:00 pm Friday, February 17, 2017 Bergeron Funeral Services & Crematorium Ltd. 10200 - 17th street DAWSON CREEK, British Columbia, Canada V1G4C2
