Obituary of Lloyd Albin Siller

Lloyd Siller, a long time resident of Chetwynd, B.C. went to be with The Lord on Sunday, March 12, 2017 in Chetwynd at the age of 83 years. Lloyd Albin Siller was born to Osian and Alice Siller on July 27, 1933 in Edmonton, Alberta. He had one older brother named Norman who predeceased him in 2011, and one younger sister named Verda who resides in Kelowna with her husband Walter Duncan. Lloyd grew up in the Edmonton area. His childhood days were surrounded by family and many friends. He really loved being with people. Life was very interesting to him, especially people and places. He loved to be on the road. In 1953, Lloyd went to some church meetings and met a pretty, young lady named Alice. He gave her a ride home and continued to from the meetings every night. After a short courtship they were married on September 5, 1953. Alice was the love of his life and they were married for 59 years when she passed in 2012. Their first son Delbert was born in 1954, Brenda followed in 1956, and Warren competed their family in 1959. In 1957, Lloyd felt a need to move to Dawson Creek. They fell in love with the northern country. In 1958/59 an opening came for a little church in East Pine. It was quite a settlement at that time, they had a good sized Sunday school class and held evening services. The family moved to Chetwynd to help brother Ivor Benterud who was in the process of building a church. Lloyd was a faithful church attendant and always liked to be on time. Lloyd worked from a young age with his dad doing carpentry. He was so artistic and talented. He loved to whittle and carve, he especially enjoyed carving eagles. He also liked to work with leather, making gun and knife scabbards. Lloyd and Alice spent most of their married life in Chetwynd. The family moved to Vernon for a couple of years in the 70's, then back to Chetwynd. They moved to Weldon, SK for seven years to help with a small church and they helped further the gospel cause to the Sandy Lake Reserve, also making monthly trips to Manitoba to assist another small fellowship. In 1993, Lloyd and Alice moved to Langley where they spent 10 years with frequent trips back to spend time with family and friends. They moved back in 2003 due to health reasons and to be with their family. Lloyd loved his family very much. He never went anywhere without Alice. He loved to dress up and was never seen without cowboy boots. He was definitely a child of God and people loved him. Lloyd's family would like to give a special Thank You to all the staff members at Surerus Place and Home Care workers from the last four years. You've always went that extra mile with Lloyd and he had many special friends and memories there. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Chetwynd Christian Fellowship Church. Pastor Menno Friesen officiated. Lloyd will be laid to rest by his loving wife Alice in the Tuscoola Mountain Cemetery at a later date. For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Lloyd to Surerus Place, P.O.
