Obituary of Roger Romeo Joseph Boisvert

Roger Boisvert, a resident of Chetwynd, B.C. passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at home at the age of 58 years. Roger Romeo Joseph Boisvert was born on November 18, 1958 in Dawson Creek. He was the second of five children born to Simon and Theresa. Roger was predeceased by his dad Simon in 2011, and his mom Theresa in 2014. He is survived by his sisters Lorraine and Bernadette, and his younger brother Marcel. Roger grew up in Dawson Creek where he attended Dawson Creek Elementary, Central Junior High and graduated from South Peace Senior Secondary in 1977. Roger started working at West Fraser Sawmills in the fall of 1977, and where he continued to work until the time of his passing as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Roger was an extremely hardworking, devoted man who stayed with the same company for over 39 years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycles to work. In 1978, Roger was introduced to Barb, whom he always called Barbie. Roger and Barb were married in Dawson Creek and celebrated 35 years together in June 2016. Roger and Barb moved to Chetwynd in 1981. They welcomed their son Adam on August 31, 1984, and then on March 16, 1988 their daughter Nicole was born. Roger and Barb bought a house in Hudson's Hope and moved it to their dream acreage north of Chetwynd, where they lived until the time of his passing. He loved their acreage so much. In 2009, Adam married Jenny and they have two beautiful children; Elilah was born in 2011, and Torben in 2013. In 2015, Nicole married Andrew and they live in Grande Prairie. Roger was a very generous man who would give you the shirt off his back. Roger was also an extremely talented wood worker. He spent countless hours in his shop working on his lathe, making hope chests for people, and benches and cupboards. His love of wood working and talent was a bond he had with his dad. They would always tackle some kind of project when his dad would come out to visit him. Roger also loved music and taught himself to play the banjo and guitar. There were not many times that Roger would not have music playing. This love of music has been passed on to his son Adam, who is also an extremely talented musician. Roger was a bit clumsy and had a bit of bad luck in his life; he cut off tips of his fingers in high school, he also fell off of a roof a couple of times, and cut off the tips of his toes with a lawn mower. Roger was a family man. He loved spending time at his acreage outside playing with their grandkids and no matter what, he always had a sucker for each of them. He loved his dogs and cats and had many over the years. Roger was a homebody, and any trips away from the acreage were hard on him. The only time he would willingly leave the acreage, would be to go to Grande Prairie or to Dawson Creek to visit family and have an excuse to frequent Canadian Tire, Princess Auto, Costco, and what he called the "candy store", also known as Bulk Barn. A private family graveside service was held on Thursday, April 27, 2017 in the Brookside Cemetery, Dawson Creek. Very Respectfully Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium
