Obituary of Doreen Farn

Doreen Farn 1938 -2017 Doreen Farn known also as "GG" resident of Dawson Creek, British Columbia formerly of Campbell River passed away on June 5, 2017 in Dawson Creek. Doreen was born on August 28, 1938 in Shiney Row, Houghton-le-Spring, England to Charles and Florence Conn. Before moving to Canada, she was known to take her baby brother Barry wherever she went. She had a wonderful laugh and was a great story teller. Her family loved coming to her home for the holidays, enjoying her baking, hotpot, and hams. As matriarch of the family she was always a source of advice, a listening ear and a home away from home for many members of her family. Doreen was a passionate woman who left an impression on everyone she met and is loved and missed dearly by her family. Growing up in England Doreen was a great support to her mother while her father was away in World War II. She attended grammar school where she was on the track and field team. Immigrating to Canada in 1965, Doreen built her life in British Columbia and calling Dawson Creek her home for almost forty years. Doreen was a homemaker, dedicated community volunteer and an entrepreneur who owned Krafty Korner in Campbell River and Vista Tours in Dawson Creek. She was a voracious reader who loved British history and science fiction. She also enjoyed knitting, quilt work, sewing, baking, puzzle games, Coronation Street, and Travel. Doreen was predeceased by her father Charles Conn, mother Florence Conn and brother-in-law James "Jimmy" Rundle. Doreen is survived by her siblings Barbara Rundle, Barry (Jackie) Conn; children Angela (Donald) Legault, Pauline Patterson (Rick MacDonald), and Dennis (Tracey) Farn; grandchildren Paula Patterson, Craig (Ashley) Legault, Danielle Patterson (Jason Thompson), Kevin (Leah) Legault, Kayleen, Karissa, and Angele Farn; and great-grandchildren Anton Schindler, Brooklynn, Rhonin, Taylin, and Jayden Legault. Doreen is also remembered by many nieces and nephews in England. With respect to Doreen's wishes, no service will be held. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Doreen may be made by way of donation to Diabetes Canada, Suite 1400, 522 University Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, M5G 2R5.
