Obituary of Susie Mae Herman

Susie Herman, a resident of Dawson Creek, formerly of Chetwynd, B.C. passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017 in Dawson Creek, at the age of 84 years. Mom was born on July 23, 1933 in Fellers Heights, to Peter and Bernice Hiebert, younger sister to Jane & Katie Cowdry, and in time, older sister to Gwen and Wayne Hiebert. Mom attended school in Dawson Creek and left after grade eleven to enter the work force. Mom married Bill Herman in 1953 and had five children, who gave them 9 grandchildren, & 11 great grandchildren. Early years were spent in Dawson Creek, East Pine, Silver Sands, Mount Lemoray and Chetwynd. Mom enjoyed sewing, knitting & crocheting. Some of the color combinations were pretty out there, but she worked on projects with much delight. She was also famous in some circles for her gingersnaps and baking. Mom enjoyed a good party back in the day, loved music and dancing. Her latest hobby was puzzles, and she was well stocked up. Mom later moved to Edmonton for a couple years and then back to Dawson Creek and worked several jobs over the years, K-Mart being one. Mom was looking so forward to retiring at sixty-five, and had great plans - she bought a used camperized van and was ready to set off on many an adventure, how she loved to tell everyone about the plans she had. Life however, had different plans for her, a heart attack and following stroke left her unable to follow her travelling dream. She had a determined nature and fighting spirit, which served her well over the years. Mom had recently moved to Rotary Manor, where on July 4, 2017 she sustained injuries way beyond her ability to fight against, and passed away as a result of those injuries on July 31, 2017. Susies family would like to invite family and friends to join us, Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 1:003:00pm at the Pomeroy Inn & Suites, 5200 N Access Road, Chetwynd for a gathering to share memories and celebrate Susies life.
