Obituary of Gary Underhill

Gary was born in New Westminster, B.C. on September 6, 1940 and raised in Maple Ridge; B.C. went north in 1961 with Sister Sharon and another couple. We met on May 9, 1964 when I went to Watson Lake to work. We were married on October 2, 1964. We moved to Whitehorse the same year where he went to work for CNT. In 1966, he got a transfer to Dawson Creek where he was finally able to meet my family. My mom loved him dearly from day one. Adonia was born in Whitehorse and Troy and Darren were born in D.C. We lived there until 1986 when we moved to Chetwynd. Gary loved his golfing; we went to many dances and golf tournaments over the years. One of the most fun one was the glow ball night golfing tournament at Moberly Lake, where on his first shot it went off the treehe managed to lose his glow ball in the bush. Even retiring from his own logging truck he still drove for others hauling logs, water, and gravel. He had to keep busy right up to the end. He was a giving man that never met anyone that did not like him. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandsons. When I went to bed I always said night love and he replied night babe. We will all miss him dearly. Night Love, Vi Gary, Gordie, and Wayne golfed countless rounds of golf at Natural Springs, Moberly, and as far away as Kelowna. One time the three of the them went to Kelowna. One morning Gordie and Gary go for breakfast. Gary was probably chewing on his third bite and Gordie was done. Gordie says Come on Gary are you going to eat that or look at it. Lets go! Gary says to Gordie. Did you know youre supposed to chew your food 28 times. Of course Gordie says Whose counting? Gordie grabs Garys plate, takes some of the food, eats part of Garys breakfast then says Now you dont have to count so much. We are going to be late. Gary says Whats the hurry we have an hour. It wasnt enough to razz each other on the golf course but also at A&W. They considered themselves as, The table of knowledge. No person left the table unscathed.
