Obituary of Kathleen Wendt

Kathleen Pauline Wendt (nee Juell), beloved wife to the late Henry Wendt passed away Saturday evening December 9, 2017 at the age of 81. Kathleen was born January 4, 1936 at the Juell homestead, in the community of East Doe River, Alberta. She was the second child and the eldest daughter of Ralph and Ruth Juell. Besides a short time in Alaska, Kathleen chose to live and raise her own children on the family farm at Doe River, BC. Kathleen fell in love with Henry Wendt and they were married on November 7, 1959. They worked hard together farming, gardening, and raising their three children, Cheryl, Bruce, and Steven. Kathleen took great pride in her home, yard, and garden. Kathleen was happy living on the family farm and was at home when she suffered a stroke. Family was most important to Kathleen and she leaves behind her three children, Cheryl (Wade), Bruce (Holly) and Steven (Melissa). Kathleen found extreme joy in her posterity and was delighted to be grandmother to eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Kathleen loved to sew and enjoyed quilting. Many over the years were fortunate to win one of her quilts which were raffled at the annual Doe River Supper. She enjoyed volunteering and sewing with the Ladies of WI club. Kathleen loved being part of the Doe River community, and she will be dearly missed by her neighbors and friends. Kathleen was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Ruth Juell, and her brother Leslie. She leaves behind her brothers Clarence, Roy and Arthur; sisters Clara Wicklund, Barbara Johnson, Ethel Dyck, and Iona Yorga; as well as many in-laws, and other family members. It makes her family happy knowing that she has been reunited with the love of her life, Henry. A funeral service was held Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Bergeron Funeral Home. Interment followed with a private family service at the Shearerdale Cemetery. Community members and friends gathered with the family at the Doe River Community Hall for refreshments and comradery.
