Mona Jean (Walker) MacLean It is with great sorrow that we inform you of the death of our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister Mona Jean (Walker) MacLean. Mona passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on January 4, 2018 at the age of 92 years in Dawson Creek, BC. Mona will be forever remembered for her joy of life, her courage and dedication, and her unfailing energy. Mona was born to Russell and Agnes Walker on August 26, 1925 in Halcourt, Alberta outside of Beaverlodge; she was number five of eight children. She graduated from high school in Grande Prairie, Alberta and then went to Edmonton for secretarial training. While in Edmonton she played fastball for the Canadian Champions, the Edmonton Walkrites. She met and married Percy Davidson, who was back from World War Two. After being widowed, Mona moved to Fairview, Albert where she met and married Menzies "Bud" MacLean. In 1956 they moved to Whitehorse, Yukon with their daughter Maureen. They lived happily in Whitehorse for twenty years, and their daughters Heather and Marilyn were born there. While in Whitehorse, they were active in sports and community organizations; they enjoyed hockey, curling, baseball, and family time at the cabin at Marsh Lake. In 1976, the family moved to Dawson Creek. Mona was an instructor at Northern Lights College and upon retirement became a realtor. Throughout this time, she was very involved with horse showing, 4-H, curling, golf, and many family gatherings at the farm in Arras. Mona spent a number of winters in California as a snowbird. Mona was predeceased by her husband Bud MacLean, grandson Steven Jackson, granddaughter Sidney Rothman, sisters Annie Dixon, Irene Vipond, Lille McKay, and brother Alvin Walker.
