Obituary of Geraldine Grant

Geri Grant 1941-2018 Geri Grant, longtime resident of Dawson Creek, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 11, 2018 at the Dawson Creek hospital at the age of 76, after a short battle with leukemia. Geri was born in Edmonton. Alberta on September 28, 1941. At the age of three, her mother passed away. She moved to Whitehorse, Yukon with her father when she was five years old. She met her husband there, marrying Gordon Grant in 1959 until 1980. They had one son Gary, born in 1967. The family moved to Dawson Creek in 1975, where Geri called home for the rest of her days. Her career started in Whitehorse, where her first job was typing for the Canadian army at the military hospital. After Gary was born, she stayed at home to raise him, and once he was in school she started to work part time. In 1981, Geri started with the BC Assessment Authority, and she retired in 2002 as office supervisor. She took a part time job for the RCMP for a few years after retirement to fill her days. In 2009, she found out that she had been adopted, a little bit of a surprise, but she had always wondered from a few comments made in her growing up years. In the summer of 2009, Geri, Gary, Jan, Alyssa, and Brennan went to a family reunion in Logan Lake for the new side of her family and met two half-sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. Everyone had a great time with her new family and kept in touch till the end. Geri enjoyed curling, bowling, and camping, but most of all spending time with her son and grandchildren. In 2011, Geri met Glen Dalke and they spent most of their time together. They enjoyed one winter in Glen's condo in Mexico and had many great times together. Geri is survived by her son Gary (Jan) Grant; grandchildren Alyssa (Devin) McGrath and Brennan (Chantal) Grant; great-grandson Shanten McGrath; sisters Marj (Doug) McGregor and Judy (Barry) Damberger; and her close friend Glen Dalke. She was predeceased by her mother Josephine LaRose and father Wilson Conoly. With respect to Geraldine's wishes, no service will be held. Expressions of sympathy may be made by donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1100 Alward Street, Prince George, British Columbia, V2M 7B1. She will be truly missed by all her family and friends.
