Obituary of Eva Hayward

Obituary of Eva Gertrude Hayward (Schupbach) The family of Eva Gertrude Hayward (Schupbach) are all very sad to announce her passing on January 13, 2021. Eva went peacefully in her sleep at the age of 99 in the care of the great staff at Rotary Manor, in Dawson Creek, BC. Eva was born in Renan, Switzerland to parents Bertha Schupbach (Reisen), and John Schupbach, the second of 4 children who all came to Canada in 1935. Married at the age of 17 to Fred Hayward on November 3, 1938, they worked hard together and made a good life for many. They made their home and farmed in the Bay Tree, Alberta area where they were long-time residents and raised 7 kids. They bought a house and moved to Dawson Creek in 1972. Eva remained and lived in that same house until 2016, eventually moving into Rotary Manor. Proudly, Eva went on to be the matriarch of a family of 81 descendants. 8 children, 25 Grandchildren, 41 Great Grandchildren and 7 Great-Great Grandchildren with an 8th on the way. While loving and caring for her large family she managed to live her passions and maintain her hobbies which were gardening, her yard, crocheting, knitting, reading Harlequin Romance novels, and working on puzzles. During her time in Dawson Creek she had three significant jobs that she loved: Daycare Attendant, Kitchen Assistant, and at the age of 80 cleaner at a family owned Denture Clinic. Eva is predeceased by her sister Helen, daughter Georgina, brother Herman, husband Fred, and son Arnold and of course living to 99 predeceased by her parents. In keeping with current Covid-19 restrictions, a private graveside service will be held at Briar Ridge Cemetery. The family will gather at a later date when it is safe to do so and celebrate her life in a family reunion style.
