Obituary of Alex Fraser

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Alexander Fraser (Alex), resident of Rotary Manor and long time resident of Sunset Prairie, BC on January 18, 2021 at the Dawson Creek Hospital at the age of 90 years. Alex was born November 4, 1930 in Ayr, Scotland to parents Alexander and Charlotte Fraser. His parents brought him to Canada as an infant and he grew up in Vernon, BC. He came to the Peace River area surveying the rail bed for Pacific Great Eastern Railroad (BC Rail). He met Margaret Shakeshaft shortly after coming to the area and they were married November 30, 1957 in Dawson Creek. Most of his career was spent surveying for the Ministry of Transportation and Highways with a few other short term jobs mixed in. He retired from the Ministry of Transportation in 1994. His other full time job was sheep and cattle farming which he did until 2008. In 2008 Margaret had to move into Rotary Manor because of declining health at the same time Alex was having some mobility issues so he moved into Southview (this made it easier for him to see Margaret every day). Then in 2016 with more mobility issues he made the move into Rotary Manor. He would often express that the staff of Rotary Manor took very good care of him. Alex is predeceased by his parents Alexander and Charlotte Fraser and his wife Margaret Fraser. Alex is survived by his daughters Betty (Richard) Alexandre, Mary Ann (Ed) McClarty, grandchildren Jennifer (Bruce) Frederickson, Damian (Michele) McClarty, Chenise (Aaron) McClarty and great grand children Smith and Philip Frederickson. Due to current COVID restrictions, a Celebration of Life for Alex will be held at a later date. For friends so wishing, donations in Alex's memory may be made to the Rotary Manor Care Facility, 1121-90 Ave, Dawson Creek, British Columbia, V1G 5A3. Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium
