Obituary of Fern Erickson

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Fern Erickson, long-time resident of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, on Friday, April 16, 2021 in Dawson Creek, BC at the age of 95 years. Fern passed away on April 16, 2021 after a long and happy 95 years of life. Left to cherish her memory are her loving sons Errol (Sharon) and Dennis (Medisa); four grandchilden Tyler and Rikki, Connor (Kaitlyn), and Evan (Liv); as well as two great-grandchildren Mya and Anna. Also left to lovingly remember her is her daughter-in-law Carol, and her siblings Yvonne, Jim, and Bill (Lorraine), as well as many family and friends. Known for her quick wit and fashion sense, Fern made a great impression on everyone she met. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. Born in Grande Prairie to Cliff and Bessie Lawrence, she was the fourth of seven children. She grew up on the family farm in Buffalo Lakes and attended high school in McLennon. She moved to Dawson in 1943 and worked in the CIBC bank. Fern met the love of her life Erick Erickson in 1943 and married in 1945. They welcomed their first-born Errol in 1946, Dennis in 1948, and Rick in 1952. Fern worked at the family business, Erickson's Electric and Furniture until 1970, and received her diploma in Interior Design Studies from LaSalle University in 1966. She ran her business, Interior Design Services, until her retirement. Fern is reunited with her beloved husband, Erick (1977), and son, Rick (1970) as well as siblings Hugh, Edna, and Bernice. Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Interment will take place at Dawson Creek Cemetery.
