Obituary of Robert White

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Francis White, (known as Rob to his friends), a resident of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, on Sunday, May 2, 2021 after a two year long illness at the age of 58 years. Robert passed unexpectedly in the University Hospital of Northern BC in Prince George, BC, with his beloved spouse, Stacey, at his side. Robert was born in Trenton, Ontario in 1962 to Mary Theresa (Field), White and Frank Neyland White. Robert spent a great deal of his early childhood travelling to different countries, including Germany, with his family because his father, Frank, was in the military. When his family came back to Canada, they settled in Belleville, Ontario. Robert attended Loyalist College, taking accounting and Business Administration, before he headed west to British Columbia. Robert worked hard as a tree faller and laborer and travelled up and down the west coast of BC, while also making/selling burl clocks and even meeting the cast and crew of the former TV show, Beachcombers while dining at Mollys Reach in Gibsons Landing. Eventually, Robert wound up in Fort St. John, (even though he was heading up to Alaska), and obtained employment in construction, tree falling and as a laborer. There, in Fort St. John in 1999, Robert met the love of his life and soulmate, Stacey Penno, and the pair became inseparable. In 2002, they both moved to Dawson Creek and welcomed a son, Sylvain, in 2006. Robert and Stacey were together for 21.5 adventurous and wonderful years, spending time in Fort St. John, Moberly Lake, Kelowna and Dawson Creek. Robert was a tell it as it is type of guy, but he had a huge heart of gold and was always willing to lend a helping hand to someone in need. Robert loved his spouse and son and would do anything for them. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, (both in person and on the phone for hours), sharing stories and experiences. Robert was a very wise, admirable and unique person who will be eternally missed and forever remembered by all his family, friends and acquaintances across Canada. Robert also really enjoyed fishing, camping and exploring the wilderness. He liked to watch hockey, NASCAR races, football and documentaries about true crime, gold mining and searching for lost treasure. Robert loved classic rock and newfie music and also enjoyed fixing/restoring vehicles, (he had a 1978 Ford F-100 Custom Truck), and fixing/restoring old furniture. Robert was predeceased by his mother, Mary; his sister, Maxine; and is father, Frank. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his loving and devoted spouse, Stacey; son, Sylvain; brother, Frank, and sisters, Maggie, Teri and Lori. For friends so wishing, donations in Roberts memory can be made to: The Kidney Foundation of Canada, 200-4940 Canada Way, Burnaby, BC, V5G 4K6 or Dawson Creek and District Hospital Foundation, 11100-13th Street, Dawson Creek, BC, V1G 3W8.
