Obituary of Billy Joe Redhead

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Billy Joe Redhead, a resident of Chetwynd BC on September 12, 2021 at 50 years of age. Billy Joe Redhead was born on May 23, 1971, in Dawson Creek, BC to Leona Redhead. Billy was also known as Billy Bayou, Billy Bob, and Boo. Billy grew up and remained living in Chetwynd, BC. Where to begin; lets start at the beginningwhen Billy was a baby, he was extremely charming and everybody that saw him thought he was the cutest baby ever! 6 months after Billy was born, he went to live with his grandparents, Simon, and Victoria Redhead. During this time grandpa instilled the love of sports, it also helped that Billy was a natural athlete; he mastered every sport he tried; especially hockey. Hockey was a big part of his childhood; the shelves in grandma and grandpas house were adorned with all his trophies and medals. He would go on numerous road trips for hockey even though we didnt have a family vehicle, his hockey family made sure he went because he was that good. Billy used to travel every summer to stay with his aunt and uncle in Vancouver. Billy was the batboy for the Skowkale fastball team where he travelled all over with the team including to the USA. When he was a teenager, the Cardinals were a huge influence on him regarding hunting, fishing, working out, playing street hockey, binging on Dixie Lee hamburgers to gain weight, or spending time in the bush or on the river with his buddy, the late Sam Cardinal. Billy went on a road trip with his brother and Jesse to Calgary. While driving around sightseeing, they ended up getting pulled over by a cop on a motorcycle where they sat for about 10 minutes, all of a sudden, they were surrounded by SWAT, helicopters, shot guns and a News helicopter. A gut spoke over a megaphone, they were instructed to get out of the vehicle, and then they were tackled to the ground and had to stay on the ground while a vehicle search was completed. Billy looked at Jesse while handcuffed and said, What did you do Jesse? Jesse said, I was with you the whole time Turns out, they perfectly fit the description of drive by shooters in an incident that occurred previously. They were quickly released and apologized to. He had some pretty wild road trips but the most memorable was with his 5 girls. His beautiful daughters Brittany, Gabrielle, Shania, Nikota and Evelyn. He loved them all very much and spoke very highly of each one. Some days Billy would take them fishing and show them his secret hunting and fishing spots, others, he would take some of the girls in his little red 2-seater Toyota pick up and would drive around all over. His famous meal to cook for them was macaroni; man, that guy could cook macaroni a million ways. Billy loved to sing and play guitar; he used to sing half songs and change the lyrics. He could sit for hours and play, he loved to be around people and had a genuinely kind heart. He cherished kind words, humour and a positive vibe. Billy was predeceased by his daughter Nikota; mother Leona; grandmother Victoria, grandfather Simon and many aunts and uncles. Billy leaves behind, his girls, Brittany, Gabrielle, Shania, Evelyn; sisters Jo-Ann, Darlene, Geraldine, Leatha and Ruby; brothers Leon and Russell. His girls and the Redhead family would like to thank you all for coming and showing your support during this difficult time. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 from 12:00 to 1:00pm at the Chetwynd Fellowship Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 1:00pm at Chetwynd Fellowship Baptist Church. Interment to follow at the Tuscoola Mountain Cemetery. Pastor Bill Evans to officiate.
