Obituary of Flora Judge

Memere was born in Morinville, Alberta November 7, 1916 to Joseph and Bella Rondeau. She was the last surviving child of 12 and passed away at the age of 92. She moved to Dawson Creek in 1945 with her husband Gerry who worked for the Northern Alberta Railroad, and their 4 children, Elsie, Joe, Vivian and Melvyn. They had one more child, Roy. Memere loved to entertain family and friends and spent many hours at the reservoir having wiener roasts and swimming. She loved to be in the water with her kids. Family always came first, but anyone that really knew Memere knew that her garden was her one great joy. As soon as the ground could be turned, she was out planting her veggies and flowers. It didn't matter who you were, if you came for a visit you always went home with something from her garden. Even last year, she insisted that flowers were planted in her planters. Her favourite flowers were roses and nasturtiums. After her husband Gerry died in 1956, Memere had to go to work to support her children. Her first job was selling Avon. Because she never learned how to drive, she had to walk everywhere to make her deliveries. After she stopped selling Avon, she then started her cooking career by working at the Royal Canadian Air Force. After that she then went to work at various restaurants here in Dawson and then worked in the Oil Rig camps until she retired at 65. Everyone wanted her to be their cook. One other thing that Memere enjoyed immensely was playing cards, especially crib. Whether it was teaching one of her grand kids how to play or playing at the Legion, she never showed anyone mercy. If you missed your points, she would take them and feel no remorse for doing it because that was the only way you were going to learn how to play. If anyone ever played Pass-the-ace with Memere, you would know her favourite saying when it came to playing that game.never pass a four. Memere was the kindest, most generous, most loving person we could ever know and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was smart, independent and her mid was her own even up until the end. Memere believed that God had your name in his little book and that when your time came he would call you home, and so on Monday, January 5th, 2009 He called and took her home with the angels. A Memorial Service was held on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at 2:00 pm from Reynars Funeral Chapel. Rev. Marilyn Carroll officiated. Interment will be held at a later date. Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium
