Obituary of Charles Wheat

Charles Wheat, born to Charles and Edith Cliff (Andrews) Wheat, in a thatched cottage in a small village at Tixall Village near Stafford, Staffordshire England on April 8, 1934. During his years in England he loved to be around his family. The children loved to play in the woods and fields. Charlie started to garden at a young age by working for Dowdie. He enrolled in the Army of the British Services in 1952 and loved his time there. He was in Tripoli and other places in Libya with the 14/20th King Hussars a tank regiment. He talked about those years with pride and joy. Charlie ended up in Canada in 1955 simply because it would have been 13 weeks to get passage to New Zealand, while it took only six weeks to Canada. Charlie married Carolyn Walton on October 10, 1961. In 1964 they brought their first child, Charles (better known as Chuck) home; he passed away as a toddler in 1966. In 1967, Charlie started with Finning Tractor and in the same year, Chris, Anna and Cathy became part of the Wheat family. In 1971Charlie was welcomed into their home. A highlight in Charlie's life was starting C. Wheat Mechanical Services in 1976. At this time another child, Russell was added to the family. Soon, two more children joined the family; in 1978, Chrystal and in 1979, Billie Dawn. Billie Dawn was the apple of Charlie's eye, she passed away in 1986. Their last child, Carl, joined the family in 1986. From 1988 to 1993, Charlie was involved with the Tanzania - Canadian Wheat Project where he was a mechanics advisor, for the seven wheat farms and the Central Maintenance Centre. He thoroughly enjoyed his stay and loved the people. In 2000 Charlie started to work on cranes. Charlie loved the challenge that LaPrairie Crane gave him. In 2004 and 2005 he traveled to Sri Lanka to teach hydraulics to the students at Don Bosco Centres. In November of 2008, due to illness, Charlie finished working in all fields of his life.
